MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Sprint hill climb tyres
Hi I am hoping to join the speed championship with a road modified midget this year and would welcome any comments on the best tyres to use thanks howie |

Hi and welcome. I presume you are talking about the mgcc Luffield championship. It all depends on what class you are competing in. I think last years regs are available for download. This years will be available soon, but there are no major changes. What spec is the car ? |

Hi dan Yes Luffield hopefully just downloaded an entry form. Car will run a 1380 peter may built engine with split 45s straight cut box but will be road legal, have some 5.5 or 6 inch minilites so would like to know what tyres are best, have some 032R but they are a bit old and don't think they are allowed Howie |

The 048R's are about as good as anything. Go for the Soft compound - they don't do Super Soft now. The 032R's are probably still allowed but if they are old they might not be at their best. |

I have seen some hillclimbers recommend Avon ZZRs which come in 185/50 x 13 I believe, significantly more expensive than Yoko A048Rs though. You do need to check your class regs because if your car falls into a fully modified class you may as well bolt on slicks because everyone else will be... |
