MG Midget and Sprite Technical - telescopic rear dampers
Hi, I have acouple of questions I'm sure experts out there can help me on, relating to the rear suspension 71 midget - Frontline front suspension - SPAX adjustable on the rear on standard springs. the shocks have have about 30 clicks on the stting screw. I have been running on No.6 which seems to handle OK and give a reasonable ride, problem is the shocks are noisy and rattle internally, wind them up to 15 clicks noise goes away but the ride is very very firm. Anyone else have this problem or have I a pair of bad shockers and what setting do you run on? - Thanks Mike |

Dampers shouldn't be noisy. Check all mounting bolts tight... A |

Is everything tight, no play anywhere....I just got a rear shocks by carrera, vary pretty, I hope they perform, wont be installed for sometime...,Id certianly call sprax and see what they say. esp. for what they cost ($550 USA)....maybe they are low on fluid. Another thught, do you have other suspension upgrades, like a tracktion bar or panhard rod, it could mean there to tight or you need an upgrade What is your opinion on the front line front suspension Another thought, do the sprax connect to the rubber axle strap bolt, could be to much movement in tha area, I know thats a week area, Im going to fab a plate for the shock to attach to for strengthing that area. do you have some pics, keep us posted prop |

Mike I have a Spax rear shock conversion. There is no noise from the shocks at any setting. I think there must be something wrong with your dampers (are they new or old?) or they a fitted loose as Any has suggested. Chris |
