MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Thanks to you all
I have just had a week of frustration. I have a 1973 RWA 1275 midget, that died on me a week ago. To cut a long story short, it was all ignition problems. I started by replacing the distributor cap, points and condensor, I am waiting on plug leads and coil. The symptoms were; to run for a while and then die, each time I changed something. By reading the different threads i was able to eventually look at the wiring between the coil and distributor as most common threads always suggested wiring as the car is so old. I am back up and running but with an additional list of to do's. As any midget owner knows, this is'nt a problem (in fact this is part of the fun) once Bridget (the midget) keeps going. So while I never spoke to anyone you all deserve a big " Go raibh maith agaibh " thats Irish for many thanks. Declan |

So, what was the problem.... Coil perhaps? Mark. |

I had a similar sounding problem years ago that turned out to be a bad earth on the voltage regulator. The car would runok for about 5 miles then die with no symptoms. after a minutes wait, it would start up again. I also changed out everything in the ignition circuit - the local garage couldn't find the fault etc. |
