MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Tonneau for which model?
In a dusty corner of my garage I have a tonneau which I never fitted to my now-sold mk 4 sprite. I believe it is suitable for a mk4 sprite / mk3 midget but I'd like to be sure before I put it up for sale. Is there any critical feature or measurement that I could check? Which models would use the same tonneau as each other? That's assuming it is a Sprite tonneau! Ant |

Ant. The mk3 Midget/ mk4 Sprite and later 1500s tonneau covers have a line of press studs along the back edge. If however it has a plain back edge with a metal bar let into the material on either side at the rear, it is for the earlier cars with removable stow away hood. i.e. mk2 Midget/ mk3 Sprite. The bars are to slide under the same lugs that locate the hood. mk1 Midgets/mk2 Sprites are different again as they don't have wind up windows, so their covers don't have the notch to accomodate the 1/4 light window. The other thing is, head rest pockets on later covers. Oh yes. The later car's cockpit is 4 inches longer thanthe ones with the stow away hoods Hope this helps rather than confuses. Bernie. |

OK. That helps. There's no metal bars in this - just studs. That would match up as I was sold it for a Mk4 sprite - I just wanted to check, having never done anything with it. Coming soon to ebay - one black Tonneau cover. |
