MG Midget and Sprite Technical - top/hood to windscreen seal

One thing I've noticed about my new-to-me '63 midget (take off hood, top) is the seal between the top of the windshield and the top looks questionable. Is there supposed to be some sort of weatherstripping in there or just some overlap? Just curious, someday I'll probably find out and I'd rather not be getting a shower at the time.
