MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Topping up shocks

I have just refitted my first front shock using one of Malcolm C's kits.

Should I top up with oil now with the car on stands or when in full contact with the ground? My instinct suggests when the car is in it's usual driving level.

Thanks

Gavin.

It doesn't matter - the oil level doesn't change with lever position.

I'd do it whichever gives easier access.

Hi Gavin, how did you get on? I don't get much feedback from users (good or bad!).

If you filled the shock and pumped the oil around the chambers it shouldn't really need topping up. But the position of the arm doesn't matter, just fill it until it comes out the plug. Each shock takes approx. 75 - 80 ml and the bottles are 200ml, so you won't use it all.

Malc,
do you specifically ask for feedback, giving easy contact options?

Generally it seems that customers who are satisfied or very satisfied/happy don't respond or contact you whereas customers with problems, with your products or just their own problems, are more likely to respond or contact you.

Not referring to you but they are companies and people (companies are staffed and run by people, even those that use computer algorithms) that don't really want feedback even when they state they do (no I'm not thinking of any particular company). Many are unable to process the information they get back or put it to any real use (I can think of a few supply companies on this though).

Having said that I do know of more than one instance where a supply company (or person within that company) responses by making alterations based on feedback.

Thanks all.

Malcolm - I gave the first front the full parafin treatment & intend to do all 4 this way.

I left about 10mm of air in the chamber & have now topped up at the filler plug.

I need to get the car down & moved over in the garage to tackle the 2nd front shock. All very slow work I regret. Once I have both fronts done I'll take for a drive & report back.

Later I will attempt the rear shocks.

No I don't actively seek feedback. I could take the silence one of two ways. 1. I have had no complaints so should be pleased. 2. People are dissatisfied but not enough to bother complaining! :-)

All the best with the second shock Gavin.

Dear Malcolm Le Chevalier, Pershore, Worcs, UK,
thank you for your feedback your comments have been noted. :)

I was just curious, that's all, and it was good of you to reply.
