MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Tyre - fast road / tarmac rally
Hello, I have a 1965 midget with an 1330 engine (100 bhp at the flywheel). What size / type (and pressure) type of tyres do you recommend for a fast road use or tarmac rally ? Thank you for your help. |

choice for a tarmac rally will depend completely on what the regulations for the specific event allow; if held on closed public roads then it will probably say 'any E-marked legal road tyre' but if on private land then maybe slicks will be permitted. For road-legal I'd suggest 175/60 x 13 Yokohama A048. For slicks then maybe Yoko A005R in 170/500 x 13. http://tinyurl.com/d56nvss |

Thank you but I would like something more polyvalent that A048 (wet condition). |

suggest you contact Patrice Wattine in Roubaix, he's on Facebook and does rallies in your area. |

I am very content with my Vredestein snowtrack 2 155x13 2.3 front 2.5 bar rear for the tarmac IN SUMMER AND WINTER, less pressure for mudd. Nankang Studable Wintertyre seems to be very good as well (and cheap) Flip |

I've got yokohama A539s, which seem good in the dry but really don't fill me with confidence in the wet. However, in fairness I'm running 175/60R13 on a 5.5 inch rim which is probably too wide for optimum wet weather driving in a fast road/sprint Frogeye. |

I run Uniroyal Rain Experts 175/70x13 on 5.5inch wires and although I don't do any rallies I do like to drive quickly in both wet and dry conditions and so far they've been great. Bernie. |
