MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Upgrade of brakes and front suspension
Know there's been allot of suspension threads running around lately but since I wouldn't want to hijack one of those here's another one. Since I improve the engine in my sprite mk1 I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe I need to upgrade the brakes and front suspension. A secondhand kit from a race midget is sold locally. with some mgb parsts and others, supposedly bolt on (see picture below) Thing is it's a race kit so how would it be on a road car, and the price almost 500£. Considering price maybe another rout or kit would be a better option for me? Cheers Alex |

Just going to the std disk brake set up is an improvement from the drums it has. Use good pads (1144's)and braided hoses The kit in the picture seems home made and i don't realy like the look of the top arm....... The big brake kit with it is the std spitfire disk MGB caliper set costs 365 pounds from peter may. |

I agree with onno - that top arm with it's joint to the kingpin looks a bit dodgy. rest looks OK though, but both onnos points are correct - standard disks will be enough, and a new peter may kit is cheaper than that lot :) |

Sounds reasonable. Thanks guys |

Looks like that suspension kit is destined for this build: http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24637&page=2 Cheers Spencer |

the wish bones are not a match...2 differant pans... Not sure thats an issue...But Id be conserned... But yeah sounds like a deal to me... just ebay the parts you dont want It looks like the lever shocks have a conversion to tube shocks also...not sure how...But if the tube shock conversion is a sound set up... yeah your way ahead on the savings curve |
