MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Vacuum advance
Just fitted new distributor on 1275 midget. Noticed that there is hardly any suction from the vacuum advance pipe. Never will there be enough to advance distributor. Does anyone have any ideas what I should be looking for to improve. Thanks |

If the vacuum tube is not blocked and the part on the manifold or carb where it is connected to is not blocked. Just connect it up as it should be and don't worry about it. eddie |

Take the cap off then suck on the hose & see if the points move. Don't try & google the answer for the above. |

Hi John I am from North Lincs if you ever need a lot of help give me a call. However with this problem I am curious as to how you have determined that there is not enough Vacuum. With a small tube it is not easy to determine how powerful the vacuum is. Anyhow if there is not a split in the tube or the connections and the tube is not blocked then you would have to assume the vacuum is correct. It can be measured by viewing the affect on timing using a strobe. |
