MG Midget and Sprite Technical - vibration 1500 midget

hya started my car up earlyer and left it on idle and noticed a vibration at around 1500 revs i pushed down on the gear knob and it went away. drove off and could feel the vibration when it picked up in first gear but goes away in other gears. sounds like engine/gearbox mounts, what are these like to change the engine ones look strate forward but not sure where gearbox ones are located.

James,
engine mounts are easy enough. The only challenge is getting to the nuts with a suitable spanner (9/16AF). I found the best way is to push an open ended spanner down between the rubber and the back plate of the mounting, turning the bolt until the nut slides in to the spanner jaws.

The gearbox is another story! Space is at a premium in the centre tunnel and the mounting are set back into the section of the tunnel which is effectively a box section with the floor acting as the closing panel!
Easy if you take the engine and box out but that's a bit extreme!!

Best of luck with them.....

Check exhaust isn't touching - esp. downpipes past the chassis rail...

My 1500 has exactly the same problem slight vibration but when you lean on the engine and take the weight off the mounts it goes away so I am in the same boat as you. I have bought the mounts just need to figure how to get my hand and a spanner in there to replace them. Let me know how you get on.
