MG Midget and Sprite Technical - WARWICK HARD TOP
Hi Gang can anyone help? What I need is photographs of the brackets(front and rear side) as used on the early mark II Sprite hard top I have just got a top but only some of the brackets ! I did see nice midget at Spridget 50 with one fitted but did not think to take any pickies! Ta' in advance. Bob. |

Hi Bob, Good to hear you've managed to get a Warwick hardtop. Here's a shot of the original front fixing arrangement - Left and Right-hand threads on the 'hook' ends provide the tension when the central 'nut' is turned, so I'm told. Rear bracket set-up to follow... Jonathan. |

Sorry Bob, but this isn't the sharpest of photos as I've cropped it from a general interior shot taken through an open passenger door! The original rear bracket appears to be not much more than a threaded 'hook' (similar to the original battery strap hooks on an early Sprite or Midget), with a large alloy wing-nut and washer providing the tension. The alloy wing-nut looks to be identical to the one used on the Big-Healey hardtop. These wing-nuts, as far as I'm aware, are still available from the likes of AH Spares or most other Big-Healey specialists. Bob, if you're thinking of tooling up to produce some accurate copies of these brackets, I'd be interested in a set for my Warwick hardtop as mine are missing too! Please let me know if you're able to help. Jonathan. |

P.S. I have the two 'right angle' brackets which screw to the quadrant side windows, if you need to copy those. Cheers, Jonathan. |

Hi Jonathon. Perfect thank you I will investigate making new brackets/fixings and will get back to you .I also have the brackets on the rear side windows so we look to be in the same position as far as fixings are concerned. Bob. |

Combined with two of these. http://cape-international.com/capeshop.php?parttypes=25&thepart=15128 J. |

David used Jonathan's pictures along with some that Tom C supplied, his top now fits perfectly. I'm sure that David will forward pictures too if you like. David's car is the one you saw at Spridet 50. Mark. |

Hi Bob & Jonathan: Jonathan you may remember that I bought a Warwick hardtop from you a few years ago (painted green). Big problem with it was that it didn't fit over the roll bar so I didn't pursue fitting it at the time and other pressing issues took precedence, so it and the car it was intended for were carefully stored away. The car was MOT'ed last week in preparation for an event this weekend that I hope will still run in spite of the snow - which made me think how desirable it would be to have the hardtop fitted! If there is a possibility of someone manufacturing the mounting brackets I would definitely be interested. Regards Robert |
