MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Weak brake lights
I have a 63 Mk 1 midget and I have failed my WOF (MOT) because the brake lights are noticably weaker than the rear lights. I have checked the connections at the pressure switch and at the rear of the car and they seem OK. I have connected the two wires to the pressure switch together and the lights work no differently. All other lights work well. Any suggestions?? |

Wires could be backwards. Meaning, they are lighting the wrong filaments. Open the boot and switch them to see if there is an improvement. |

Silly question: are the bulbs fitted the right way? Lamps wired correctly? i.e. tail lamps and brake lamps transposed. Just a thought. If not, you may have a corroded bullet connection where the front loom and rear loom join - base of the R/H 'screen pillar. Not likely to be an earthing problem as the earth is common - lamp body to shell - for the two filaments in the stop/tail bulb. |

Thanks for that men, I swapped the leads so that the stop light was the bright one and it passed. Thanks from down under. |
