MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Welch plug fitting
A bit daft but how do we put the grease plug in the bottom pivot on the front suspension? Mine is out on the offside. I have a new one, indeed two, but can’t get either in place. Suspension full of grease and OK but would like to know it’s as factory. Thanks in advance, Dave |

the nipple screws into a threaded plug which itself screws into the bush in the A-pan. Items 23 & 24 https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/mg/midget/steering-suspension/front-suspension/front-spring-shock-absorber-sprite-midget-1275-1500cc.html |

Hi Dave, there is a nipple on the other end of the swivel. This plug is to help retain the grease when it’s forced in through the nipple. At the moment I put my thumb over where this should be to ensure greasing. I clean it out by doing a few strokes before putting my thumb over where the plug should be to restrict the ingress of dirt. |

Its 21 on your diagram |

Place the plug in the hole and smack the centre of the plug to spread and secure it. Same as fitting the core plugs to the engine block except access is severely limited! |

Thanks Chris. So the bad fit is probably rust. Must smack harder after a good firk to ensure fit. ;-) I have some steel rod I can use for easier smacking. Cheers, |
