MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wheel studs. Wire/steel wheel difference
Looking at the Moss catalogue I notice a difference in price for rear wheel studs for steel or wire wheels. The steel wheel ones are £2.10 each, while the wire wheel versions are £5.00 each. Why? The steel wheel one holds both the brake drum and the wheel on, but the wire wheel one is shorter and has less to do,only holding the drum in place. Am I missing something? Bernie. |

Buy the steel wheel version and cut them down. |

It was a friend of mine who doesn't post on here who asked me about them, and as I couldn't give him an answer I thought I'd ask the BBS community. Mine are the original wire wheel drum studs which were on the car when I bought it. |

Bernie I suspect it is because they can get away with it. Those who can afford wires probably won't baulk at a fiver per nut when they look to see what else they may require. Similar reason why window cleaners are 50 quid in South Kensington and a fiver in Hull. |
