MG Midget and Sprite Technical - windscreen

Hello,
I have to remove a good glass in a bad condition frame (midget MKI, like frog windscreen). And I have to put this glass in a good condition frame.

The windscreen is out of the car. I have removed the "key" of th the rubber seal all around the glass. This "key" is in the interior side of the windscreen.

How to remove the glass from the frame?
Do I have to remove the glass from the rubber, beggining by one top corner?
Do I have to remove ine the same time the rubber and the glass?

Secondly, wich process to fit the glass and rubber in the new frame?

It seems not very easy, and i do not want to break the glass.

Thank you

Sorry Laurent, can't help you.

All I can say is, that when my car had a broken windscreen and I took it to be fixed, the windscreen fitter started crying!

Good luck

Thanks Andy.
At least I succeeded in changing the glass.
Not sure I have used the right process, cause my fingers are very painfull, now the work is done.

Laurent,

Having installed a new screen on my MGB I assume it will be the same for a Midget.

Lubricate the seal with washing up liquid and then apply a rope tourniquet to pull the side pillars and then the top and bottom frames onto the glass.

It sounds terrible but leaving the tourniquet to settle for a few minutes should draw the screen into the frame gradually

Have a look in the MGB section for further guidance
