MG Midget and Sprite Technical - windscreen wipers

I've no windscreen wipers, never had any, nothing came with the car.

I'm looking at remedying this and see that for wiper systems there are several choices of how many degrees the wipers move.
Seems to be a choice of 100,110,120 and 130 degrees.

Does anyone know what it should be for a frogeye ?

Ive been relying on rain-gaurd so far for the rare occasions when i get caught out...
Weather is more predictable in Thailand... :-)

I dont know what was originally fitted to Frogeyes. However, I changed the 100 deg gear in my Mk3 midget for the 130 deg version to maximise the swept area.

I use a 120 degree crank from a mini for the same reason. Gives a slight overlap to the blade swept areas and also allows for a bit of slackness on the wiper blade pivots.

I seem to remember that it's 110 but stand to be corrected.

Did the uk market ever get the 3 wipers like the usa market did...im not sure what the 3 wiper gearing is

And a good book it is....

Sadly my copy is 4 hours drive away together with my Spridgdat....

I'll make sure to read up this weekend when i get back.

Then i'll see what is available at the local motor factors, hopefully i'll be able to get everything i need, if i buy it all at the same time can check everything will fit together...

Daniel.
Please print some more copies of your book, then we could all have a book with this stuff in. And I don't mean an e book.

E-book please!! Oh yes!

A brand new wiper gear is expensive and the last time I bought a motor it came without the gear. I use a 120 degree cog and you might find Mini Mania in the USA will sell you one. The 3 wiper blade USA cars used a 105 degree cog. I haven't tried a 130 degree cog - I guess you simply get 10 degrees more overlap than with a 120. Note that the cogs also go to less sweep for other cars and so there are 90 degrees cogs you don't want.

The current edition is available as an e-book and does have updated photographic content compared to the print copy and may have a further photographic update soon.

Asking the publisher when he will want me to write another revision is on my list of things to do. I want a revision rather than a reprint as aside from photo swaps I have a couple of large-ish new sections I want to include.

That is very good news Daniel. Please keep us informed, then I can own up to my friend Alan Oakes that I still have his copy and buy one of my own.
