MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wiper Wheel Boxes

I have got a problem with the passenger side wiper, it is over stroking and coming down onto the bodywork, the drivers side is fine (Round type wiper motor) Do you get different ratio wheel boxes to reduce the stroke or does the problem lie elsewhere

Thanks Ian

You might of tried this first but pull the wiper arm off and reposition it so that it sweeps more the other side as it only sits on a set of splines.

I found on the sprite that some one had cut the pip between the two wheel boxes and thus causing a reduced sweep.

You may also find the wheel box casings loose allowing excess movement at the wiper

try tightening everything on the pipe and box junctions and follow Shaun's advice with the repositioning

One to remember!!
The wrong type of wheel box was fitted to the passenger side, must be for the square type motor. It is possibe to change the wheel boxes with the dash in I have the cuts and sore back to prove it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus my partners children heard strange noises and words coming from the garage all afternoon!!!!!!!!!!

Yep good fun trying to assemble it all with the dash in, I just loosened the bottom of it so I could get my hands in.....

I have had the same experience (apparent different ratios) with the replacement of one of the three wheelboxes on my '71 midget. I am also curious if there are different "ratios" out there, or whether I have other problems (related to wipers, that is!).

I am not looking forward to replacing the new one (it's in the center position, at least!).

Looking forward to your comments!
Thanks,

I swear by rain-ex, means you don't have to use the wipers very often.
In fact on my 998 cooper i never used them at all.

Can tell you don't live in the UK anymore Brad, Have to use them frequently at the moment.
