MG Midget and Sprite Technical - wire wheel spare clamp
Can anyone suggest where can I get a spare wire wheel clamp? None of the usual suspects seems to carry them. |

I have some spare-wheel clamps. I just need to check which ones I have. |

Or if Dave doesn't have a spare for you, just make one. Long bolt with large domed circular washer -- early type ( easily made and doesn't have to be domed especially ), or the later flattish washer, with a plate on top. Doesn't have to be pretty, just stop the wheel from sliding around in the boot. Of course if you're a die hard for originality, then you'll want the original part I guess. |

Can anyone give me the length of the correct one if I can't cadge one from Dave? |

I've found a couple. The large one, the one on the left, fits a wire wheel. The one on the right goes straight through the hole, so must be for a Rostyle. It is about 6" from the face to the end of the bolt. |

The one on the left, if you take the steel plate off the top, is the same as the early steel wheel type. I have that on my Sprite. The one on the right, is the same as I got with my '73 rwa midget with rostyles, -- which I've somehow managed to lose. So it seems I'll be taking my own advice, and making one too. lol. |
