MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wishbone cracks
The new wishbones that I bought (from Moss?) do have cracks. Are they relevant? What to do? Send them back or repair them myself or leave the cracks there. Flip |

I certainly wouldn't accept them! They should never have been supplied like that (by Moss) on an item that your life could well depend on! I would play hell with them about that! Guy |

In a word, dangerous! Get a good one. I have already bounced them on that problem a year ago or more. Obviously the message has not filtered through to where it should have. |
Paul Walbran |
Get your money back and get a set of those newly developed barry king's? |
Alex G Matla |
Flip, They look like splits from the pressing process where the material has torn rather than stretched, possibly due to a sharp edge or nick. Shouldn't be there on a new wishbone, definitely return them. |
David Billington |
That IS disgusting whoever is pressing those items is risking your life and any innocent bystanders if the car fitted with them went out of control due to suspension/steering failure whoever is selling them apparently doesn't care It appears to be inherent in the steel for the metal to tear at the edges like that I doubt if the material would pass Quality Control when BMC/BLMH/Rover MG were having them pressed You need at least a refund and an apology. If Paul has already flagged the problem to them and it has been ignored I suspect a very strong legal case could be made against them I rather think we need a legal mind on this... |

Many years ago my wife worked for a company that made little cakes. They were exceedingly good cakes but occasionally "foreign objects" would drop into the mixing machines and appear some while later in a customer's purchase. Those customers who complained and sent the cake back were given a replacement packet and a letter of profuse apology. Those who wrote and complained but kept the evidence got a personal visit from a rep. a £10 cheque (it was a long time ago - probably equivalent to £100 now!) and the offending item was taken away "for scientific analysis". The company were desperate to make sure that no "evidence" was left with the customer who might then contact the press - or worse, go to environmental health who were responsible for food hygiene. That's scary - I'd always hoped that by going to a big ditributor like Moss that you'd be safe from that sort of thing. guess not. :o( We got the Barry King ones - perfect! http://www.spridgetwishbone.co.uk/ £160 vs £140 + P&P from Moss. no contest! -Craig |

It is the AHA 7029Z Wishbone (late) aftermarket with anti roll bar bracket holes. I will return them to Moss and will not keep the evidence. The other one is cracked identical. I' will order Barry King’s. I saw him and his wishbones on Spridgett 50 years at Gaydon. Flip |

Mh, midget parts in the living room, also a subject on another thread. |
Alex G Matla |
if not on your spridget that is where they should be! |
Onno Könemann |
Some people have a special room for Spridgets. Also known as "a garage". This is to keep the dirty parts. Nice shiny and new parts can also be found in the living room :) |

I have just followed up with Moss so I think there will be some action. Knowing the particular manufacturer in this case, they usually produce good stuff, obviously not always! |

Had to post this - from a couple of years back. We all need a wife who can work around it. |
Nick |
Does she have a sister? |
Brad (Sprite IV 1380) |
As Im someone that works with color and and interioe design I like the yellow fenders with the water mellon furniture....well done Prop |

Ah the old house. Are you missing it yet? |
Gary Lazarus |
Nick, is your daugther like your wife when it comes to carstuff? If so we can start the negotiations on the bridal dowry! Call me! ;) |
Arie de Best |
She has two sisters. Both spoken for, sorry to say. Arie - here's a daughter . . . |
Nick |
Nick, That is some serious marketing material you have there! BTW, it looks like you mistakenly wound up with two front wings that actually match... Didn't anyone tell you that one of the marker lights is supposed to be lower than the other? David "also spoken for" Lieb |
David Lieb |
Ah, i now remeber this picture, youve showed it before at some thread. Probably said it then too but my complements on the result, very nice specimen of the daughter-species, especialy in combination with that "little blue" car. :) |
Arie de Best |
Thought that picture might have been here before. Sorry about that. But isn't it thrilling when girls choose to do autotesting, rallying etc.? Lizzy's the only one of my three to want to. |
Nick |
Not missing the old house yet, Gary. Strangely. Did you get my mail about last year's Le Mans? |
Nick |
In case of any concern these are not ours thanks Barry |
bp king |
Barry, Yours are (if not, should be) the industry standard of what wishbones should be. Nick, Yeah, Its hard not to forget what a lovely off spring you have...I to remember that photo. Is she off to collage yet Prop |
Prop |
Barry I don't think any of ever thought they'd be yours :) |
