MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Auto Express ZT385 Review
headlampn a long time coming, but MG Rover's moment of truth has finally arrived. The company's reputation hangs on the future of this model, and Auto Express has been given exclusive access to judge the newcomer's chance of success.
On the road for the first time, the MG Rover ZT385 is going to be put through its paces at a secret test track in Oxfordshire. Officially revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, this is the first time the car has hit the open road. And as we look on, the ignition key turns, sending the 380bhp V8 engine shuddering into life.
Due to go on sale early next year, the ZT385 is a road-going development of the ZT XPower 500 Extreme. Set to rival the likes of BMW's M3 and the Audi RS4, MG's super saloon is expected to cost under
This sounds a very encouraging report to help lift the image of MG back into the first Division and
away from recent" upstart" competitors like Seat,Subaru etc.
However, I don't see the relationship between these comments & those on the 'Auto Distress' thread !?
Those who have had some previous experience of the accuracy of Auto Distress reporting, and I have direct experience of this with the most recent being them misquoting me, will understand.
However to illustrate this a little from my perhaps greater experience of the ZT XPower model. The details reported have some basic inaccuracies and I wonder if the 'experience' of the reporter was actually sanctioned by MG Rover. There is clearly some journalistic licence in this feature!!!
What pisses me off is the delivery dates quoted - Spring! This nearly caused a heart attack as I've one on order nad I believed it was a year away. I NEED TO KNOW! Otherwise a sale will be lost.
PS Surtely MGR proof read the facts in these articles?
Weel I found the answer:
Talked to the horse mouth today (MGR) and the fact IS Auto Express have got the likely delivery date VERY wrong.
For the 385 read last qtr and for the 260 summer!
Truth is the car (385) doen't actually exist yet!
PS. Therefore just bought an EVO VII!
PSS. Isn't it nice no MEGA on this thread!
