MG MGA - 1-3/4 or 2' SU's
I am looking to upgrade to the special intake manifold the will accept 1-3/4 or 2 inck SU's. It is a race car with a 1900 engine and fully modified. Any advantage of using the 2 inch SU's? Anyone have this set up for sale in the USA? Thanks |

Possibly you may need to run SU's for the class your in. I always opt for a 45 Webber, as it has a pump jet and you get much more throttle response, which is what you need with an LSD to give you the punch out of the corners and lock up the diff. Thus steering on the throttle. If you get the old S/T books. I've linked to one here. http://freespace.virgin.net/marka.hester/RaceStuff.htm You should be able to find 2" SU's mentioned. There is little to be gained from 2" SU's over 1 3/4". I would say you need to be over 150BHP go get any top end advantage, but you will loose allot more lower down though. Also people seem to know what needles to use for 1 3/4, but I've not seem much on 2" SU's My 0.02c worth. |

I have an extra ally manifold from the works dept (NOS) for an MGA, the part # is AEH 198 and has the 4 bolt pattern for the 1.75 SU's which you can easily bore out to 2 inch. **email me at mgctony@aol.com for further inquiry and price. Tony Giordano |
