MG MGA - 1500 sold for £25,995!

I find it hard to believe that this one went for nearly twenty six grand!http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260497610557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Quite a lot of things are not standard or just plain wrong, but besides that, they seem to have done a "total ground up restoration" but missed the engine bay and most of the stuff in it! Do the springs seem to have sagged on the driver's side and who fitted that front number plate?! Not exactly a bad car from what I can see but I think I'd want more for 25,995!
Lindsay Sampford

They don't appear to have touched the interior, either.
Del Rawlins

As they say ""There is one bought every minute!!""

Now if it had a V8 installed and a nice paint job well the price woul;d be not too bad. :)
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

That's one serious lean! Seems like the buyer isn't level headed enough to notice!

Anyone want my virtually concours 1600 for the same price?
Neil McGurk

Me too Neil - it makes mine look good.
Cam Cunningham

Come on, it's worth every penny for the indicator switch alone. From an A40 isnt it?
I guess they are probably the wrong pictures - it describes new black seats but they look grey and knackered to me.
Graham M V

I think its probably the colour that sold it..........
Vin Rafter

What indicates that it has been sold at that price?
It looks like it is still for sale.

In the boxed advert part it says "Now sold".
Malcolm Asquith

This price is suspicious to me. 1/ if it sold on ebay where is the sold confirmation? 2/ any dealer/seller could put up such an advert and say its sold, whether it is or not 3/ if a potential seller saw this advert they could be led to believe that selling with this car company might get them amazing prices too...great way to get interesting listings in your yard, but this is just my honest opinion...
Mark Mathiesen

I agree, Mark. I think it's a clever ad aimed at attracting potential sellers. The ad doesn't actually say how much the car sold for, it leaves you to make such assumptions.
Andy Bounsall

there is a MGA coming up in Brightwells later this month, with a high estimate.

I will probably go over for a nose around.

Want a great MGA for $31,990? I have a 1959 1500 that had a professional frame off restoration in 1977 and then went through an updating restoration process this past year. Have a scrapbook of the original restoration. The car is very shiny dark blue with a tan interior, new black top and tan canvas tonneau cover. New Vredestein tires on perfect 60 spoke chrome wire wheels. New clutch, rebuilt the original transmission and whatever else needed fixing or replacing. Have all receipts. The paint has some light cracking but I have been advised not to have it painted as the patina is perfect for a car of this era. Matching numbers. Drives straight with no rattles or vibration. Not many around in this condition. Contact me by email if interested.

The word "Up" is missing from the third line of the garage address, just after "Stitch Mi"!
Peter.
P. Tilbury

Sold for £18,200
