MG MGA - 1600 engine weight
I'm going to be selling a 1961 1600 engine in the next few weeks. Does any one know the approximate weight and best way to ship. Thanks Gary |

Depends on what bits you're including/excluding. |

For the basic engine without the carbs, starter, generator, etc, about 400 lbs. Either use a shipping crate or ratchet strap it to a pallet. Mark |

I believe it is more like 355 lbs. without ancillaries. |

Thanks for your information. Is it a flat rate per pound by the mile or does each company charge a different rate? Gary |

Gary Rates vary WIDELY. I shipped a box across country a year or two ago, wooden, 2'x3'x6' and a couple of hundred pounds. I had quotes that had a range of about 5 to 1. There are some outfits on the web that arrange for "partial loads" and it was one of these that I ended up using. Lowest cost, and it came by air. Down side is that speed is not guaranteed, and you have to deliver the crate to, and pick up from, their closest terminal. Ususally not a major problem. Check the web and see what you can find.
