MG MGA - 1600 MK II Dash Flasher Jewel Location??
I just wondered if real 1600 MK II owners could tell me if their dash had the flasher jewel located as shown on Page 50 of Clausager. This is for a LH drive Dash! It is on the top left side close to the Tach, without a recessed hole. The dash I am selling on ebay was listed as "Origional MK II" but I had a potential bidder challenges my description, saying it is an improperly punched dash. Do some MK II's have the usual MGA dash? Comments? (Ebay Item #: 4587420077) If this is a special dash for a $114K car don't tell me--the auction has started. Thanks |

I have wondered the same thing - my MK II does not have a turn indicator. The wire and bulb are on the harness, but there is no hole in the dashboard. I have inspected the backside of the dashboard with a flashlight, but there is no indication that a hole ever existed. I may have an aftermarket dashboard. |

Yes, the green jewell is located in a punched, flat not indented, elongated hole approximately 3/4" from the edge of the tach and 7/8" from the top of the dash. Have a good day! John 54 mgtf 60 Coupe 62 Roadster |

For the Mk-II, the jewel was moved to the location specified in Clausager, allegedly to improve visibility (the steering wheel tended to obscure the indicator in its old location). My Mk-II has the jewel in this position, non-recessed, and I have never seen a Mk-II with a recessed indicator. Although I did see a late Mk-II with a red indicator jewel once. No idea why. |

I just checked the dash on my 62 MK11. It is in the new location not recessed as stated above. |
