MG MGA - 3.9 Differentials
Couple of 3.9 diffs on UK Ebay, one in Lancashire (you might be interested Cam) and one in Cornwall. Neither of these will fit an A - GTs had the Salisbury type axle, not banjo. |

Dominic I was talking about the 'pumpkin' Surely they will fit? Steve |

Hi Steve - don't know if the GT innards fit the banjo axle - but there are quite a few scrap GTs belonging to club members that I could access if they do - cheers Cam |

Tube type (Salsbury) axle differentials and gears are not interchangeable with tube type axle parts. |

Just had a look at my MGB reference book. I can see what you mean. I bought my 3.9 diff on Ebay off someone breaking an MGB back axle. Must have been good fortune that it was a roadster and not a GT. I was none the wiser at the time! Steve |

The early cars got tube type and the late B's got salsbury. The entire B rear axle can be fit into an MGA or the bits and pieces or the entire early MGB axle can be fit into an MGA. The GT recieved the salsbury a little quicker then the convert by a year or two. Generically, any 1967 or older B has the parts you need for your MGA. -BMC. |

Brian This is also not entirely accurate: as far as I know ALL GTs had Salisbury axles. So for axle parts you need a B Roadster from 67 or earlier. |

I have never looked at this terribly close but could swear that the early GT had the banjo/ removable pumpkin. -BMC. |

Brian, I believe they are right. The tube type axle came in with the first MGB GT and was only fitted to the mgb roadster only at #132916, in 1967. |
