Off topic I know, and for once not even Barney's website is of use!

We will be visiting Sydney, Cairns and Brisbane in July for our holiday of a lifetime.

My teenage son is coming with us, and is a keen middle distance runner. We thought it would be very memorable if he could compete in an event while in Australia.

At the moment we are trying to contact various clubs by email to see if we can make this happen.

So my question is, does anyone have any contacts or know of any clubs that run events. (cross country, 800m, 1500, or 3K)

I had a memorable Hash House Harriers evening run with Barry Gannon and his friends. Unfortunately the theme is centred on drinking as well running so might not be suitable, as well as being off the beaten track down in Melbourne. First time I had run since 1992 and it was about 5 miles. It was only the end game that kept me going! Not much use to you really but I thought I would mention it!

A freind is taking a two year sabatical and working in Sydney he is a keen middle distance runner. I enquired of him what was scheduled and although he's doing a half M this weekend there seems little he can find scheduled for July.
Do you have an itinery of your visit so that we can hone in on the areas vis dates/
