MG MGA - A fuel ttank behind the seats!

Item number: 200121829225

This car would appear to have some interesting modifications. I'm not sure if I'd feel too comfortable though with a fuel tank mounted behind the seats!

How can such a mixture of cars and parts win any award?

Is that as far as the hood goes down with the fuel tank, lol
Neil McGurk

If you think that's bad, my 1970 Jeep CJ-5 has the fuel tank in the passenger compartment, under the driver's seat. Needless to say, when I restore it, it will be getting a new tank mounted under the rear body as was fitted to later Jeeps....

Is that why all the photos show the hood partly up? - no storage space behind the seats for it?

Neil, this is Australia..anything goes with Concours down here!!..I've complained for years about the standard of judging, but nothing is done.
Gary Lock

What you need is a guy called Derek Mayor!

He took concours to new heights in this country, starting in 1988 with an MGB before moving onto Austin Healeys creating the "ultimate concours car". He is now one of our top judges.

It would not pass Jim McKenzie's keen eye here in Victoria! (That the Ebay no if anyone wondered what the reference was)

I doubt an MGA that has been buggerd about with will bring the sort of money being asked, but you never know.

The modification to fuel tank actually makes some sense - the space behind the seats in a roadster isn't a lot of use, so if you can stick a tank in there and still have the top fold down (a bit of a challenge, that) you can drop the spare under the boot floor and get the whole boot for storage.

TRs had the tank behind the seats. If I were doing it, I'd probably locate it partly in boot partly behind seats, but I'd have to take a good look at the top first.

With using only one battery cradle, it wold make very good sense to move the fuel tank, although it would be a very odd shape if you were to make the best capacity tank possible. The filler would also have to move (interiors and fuel pumps don't mix).
