MG MGA - Accessing the transmission

Further to my post below about exploring for possible transmission leaks, I'm wondering how hard is would be to pull up the transmission tunnel.

Anybody ever done that to access the top panel on the transmission and replace any necessary gaskets?
Tysen

Hi Tysen. It is MUCH easier to pull the engine and transmission than it is to remove the floorboards and transmission tunnel. I just finished installing new floorboards and tranny tunnel on my 1500 roadster. You DON'T want to go there unless you absolutely have to! Cheers, Glenn

Got it!

Sounds like I'm yanking the engine next winter.

Check that the leak is not coming from the side cover screws - a fibre washer is all that is required to fix this, and depending which screw is leaking, you may get to it from below.
