Interesting - now the seats inside the boot(trunk) lid, making a 5 seater, I would have liked to see! cheers Cam |

I can't imagine how you could possibly fit 3 people in the boot, even if you forget about the necessary seating. |

If this was truly done, why aren't there pictures of the rumble seat area? |

Extra seats? Why not try this method? (Photo from MG Meeting at Silverstone). Mick |

About 25 years ago there was a black MGA in west central Florida. It had a customized air intake that looked like a snorkel without a grill. I was asked by him to get a tonneau cover for it, When he came for it with his car that I had never seen before. I discovered that he also had a four seater. The tonneau was at least 10 inches too short. I never saw it again and did not get a photo. I wish I had. It was a black on black with an exceptional finish. The owner apparently died shortly after and I do not know where the car went. This was in West Central Florida |

I have seen this car. It is rough but certainly saveable bodywise and has had the front chassis diagonals roughly cut out. I am not sure about the goalpost. The diagonals could be replaced from an MGA donor chassis. I didn't see inside the boot when I saw it at GT-32 but it made it from Olympia to Whistler and over the mountains to Lilooet BC without problems. The owner seems a nice enough fellow but his English is not so good (Chinese) The car would make for an interesting if challenging project. I believe that he bought another car rather than proceed with this one himself. The starting price really does not seem too bad. Cheers, Rich |

This car was next to mine in the modified class at the GT32 show. As I recall the owner's name is Tom. I agree with Rich's observations, do-able, but a project. I think he had some clutch trouble up there and limped home. Where do you go for an MG-Mazda clutch? He did not open the trunk while I was around. I suspect that rumble seat does not remain as discribed. I recall hearing about a British firm that made such a conversion bsck in the day. Steve |
