MG MGA - Another concours MGA on Ebay
Following on from the very recent thread on the concours MGA on Ebay Stateside here is one in the UK: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1960-MG-MGA-1600-Mk-1-Roadster-Concours_W0QQitemZ4610949138QQcategoryZ29757QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Bearing in mind our discussions about originality in that thread, it is interesting to note that this car has been a consistent winner even though (according to the seller) it has had numerous modifications. I think the bidding is going to have to at least double to get rid of that 'Reserve not met' sign. Steve |

Beautiful car! Steve, Keep in mind every time one of these "concours" cars sells for max dinero the price of your truely concours condition MGA will continue to rise. Oh, wait a minute, do you have a true concours/no mod's MGA? I don't understand all of the speculators out there who badger some individual's take on what concours is. Bottom line (to me) is if it looks like an MGA and sells for a ton of money, then good for all of us, our investments are GROWING. Nope. I don't even care if it has a Mazda motor in it(RJ). I wonder what Kieth Martin would think? j |

Steve, It looks beautiful, spoilt only by the (recently added?) luggage rack and the black dash. Makes mine, on which I have spent too much money, look like something the cat dragged in. Dan |

Steve, Yours looks better! Regards, Doug |

Another testament to the theory that if you restore your car too nicely, you'll rarely drive it. Or when you finally get your car restored the way you want, you'll be too old to drive it. Or fit in it. Or enjoy it. Or something. Sure is nice to look at, though! I salute the man that did the work. |

Yes I saw it on ebay too Steve - have a magazine article on it - I agree with you Tom - you would be reluctant to take it out on the road and risk getting chips in the paint. Luggage rack looks OK Dan - could be that the dash is vinyl covered - should be red - otherwise exact inverse colours of mine - don't think I would swap though. Cheers Cam |

What a wonderful MGA. Something tells me that no matter what the winning bid may be, it won't begin to recoup the owner's investment. I wonder what a car like this would have brought at the Barrett-Jackson auction. Probably a lot more than what will be offered at auction on eBay. This car makes me wish I had been a little more obsessive-compulsive with my restoration! Yes, I will admit I have engine bay envy. |

Dont recognise the engine number. ?16GA-U- is 1600 MGA.but 16AA is what ? |

Hard to tell for sure but it looks to me like the luggage rack on the boot is mounted wrong. (i.e. it should be lower on the boot lid) Rick |

Or is it upside down? |

The owner did say in the advertisement that modifications had been carried out and there are plenty on it for most of us to see. But let that not detract from a thoroughly nice car that gave the owner an enormous amount of pleasure over the years and no doubt also the spectators at the very many shows attended. Whilst I guess I would like to own such a car I know that I would not have the skill and patience to maintain it in that condition. So for me, I prefer my salt-caked, filthy, wet and hugely modified daily runner. When it's worn out in a few years I will rebuild it again, but not to that condition. Like others above, the car is for driving. Steve |

Are you guys seeing more pix than I am? I see 6.I could be wrong, but it seems that there are quite a lot of accolades for 6 pix.Or is this an already known car to you guys. |

How can we tell if it is concours or not (for sure), as there are no pictures of the interior; without confirmation that there is a CD stereo, I have a hard time accepting the term concours! Cheers, Troy |
