MG MGA - anyone got a spare £22K

Hi all looks like a nice car

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C96445/

am I imagining it or does the front wheel look to be cut awfully high

Could they be extra strong springs in the front, or is the engine made of plastic instead of cast iron! Nice looking car though.
Lindsay Sampford

Actually not concours, lots of non original parts, why use that word!! But very, very nice! I think that's one of the best, if not the best you've highlighted so far Gordon.
Neil McGurk

You are right Gordon - the front wheel arch does look high. If that goes for £25k then mine must be worth £20k as it looks just like it - except not as shiny underneath - someone did offer me £15k at Tatton Park last week. Must admit that the chrome wheels are not concours but set the car off nicely - perhaps I ought to replace my aging tyres and wheels with chrome.
Cam Cunningham

"Brand new chassis". I didn't know they were being re-made and to find an unused original must be something.
Malcolm Asquith

Am I imagining it or has the price gone up? Now £25,500, Must have heard you are interested Gordon!
Lindsay Sampford

Nice car but as Malcolm says where do you find a new Chassis?

It is only spoilt by those hideous wheels.

I know Chrome is loved in the States but it certainly does not fit with British tastes. Or is it me?
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

Hi, I maybe misread the price in the first place, I must say I seem to have noticed quite a lot of A's recently with what appear to be front wings with quite high cut arch, as someone else said it almost looks like the engine is out does give the car a strange look it would put me off I think, I would say it's the car that Mike Abbas was selling a couple of months ago

Gordon, I just wonder if he has got a jack under the car, I just looked at my car and end of the bumper lines up with the wheel knock-off, whereas the car in the advert looks like the bumper is above the knock-off. What do you think?
Lindsay Sampford

Hi Lindsay it's either that or he's got my wife in the boot

Gordon

Did you put her there to check for toolkits?
Neil McGurk

Bob, Fully agree with you about the chrome wires. They just do not look right.
David

could'nt disagree more, i have chrome wires fitted and allthough thay are a bit of a pain to clean i luv um, but each to his own, Vin
V Rafter

Actually, quite the contrary! Most of us serious MG guys here in the US would rather be shot that put chrome on anything.
k brown

like i said, each to his own

Isn't it the nice shiny metal parts that make a classic car? Rather see a chromed wheel than a plastic bumper!
