MG MGA - Austrailian friends -- no MG content

Off topic -- but I know quite a few of you are located "down under", and I am about to interview with an Aussie company about doing sales for them in the USA. Maybe one day I will get to visit them.

Do any of you have any knowledge of a company called Multitrode? They are in the west - QLD? They make level measuring devices, pump controllers, and computer controls for municipal and industrial pumping stations. If so, please email me off-line and we'll chat about it.

Sorry to use the board for this, but didn't know how else to ask...and I know no one else in Australia.

Thanks.

Jim, although I am not involved in their field of work, it appears as if they are one of the leaders in Pump Station management here in Australia, and already have distributors in USA. They have a R&D facility here in Brisbane, and appear to have a monopoly with many Australia Municipal Councils in regard to water management/transfer. There are dozens of interesting comments on Google.
Hope the interview is successful..maybe you will be able to make it down here for the MG Nationals next Easter?

Jim,

If the interview is to be successful you need to know Qld is In the EAST. Great Barrier Reef runs up the coastline. Cape York = northern-most point of the Australian mainland etc. Check a map, not all that many States and Territories to memorise, but there is a distinction between those in political and historical terms.

Of note is that flying Sydney to Perth is further I believe than London-Moscow, and you fly over a lot of countries doing the latter. One of our writers spoke of the 'tyrany of distance' in relation to Australia and distance to Europe/America. Concept can be applied here as well, though not as big an issue today (modern communication technologies et al)as in the past. However, concept has been significant in historical sense.

Would you believe each State selected its own unique rail guage. Made for some interesting trade issues at border crossovers. Only relatively recently was an emphasis put on a national rail gauge. Stuff like that.

Good luck
