MG MGA - Barney tell us more!

As a regular visitor to this site it never ceases to amaze me at the depth of Barney's knowledge on all matters MGA (I reckon his MGAguru site should be in the Guinness Book of Records - I'm not sure of the category but there must be one!)
Barney can you give us a brief CV, what training you have had, where you first worked, where you work now, how long you have been involved with MGAs, how many cars have you owned, where you find time to do what you do (including answering these queries), do you have any other interests, how do the family cope, etc?
I am sure the other members of this site also have a few general questions for you.

My apologies Barney, most I what I asked above is covered in a section of the web site that I hadn't looked at before or had forgotten (senior mooment!). A short version may still be of interest to the readers here.

There was a time in 1969 when I had two MGA at the same time (both running), but only for about a week while I was swapping engines and wheels before I sold the one which was damaged. Otherwise when it comes to little British cars I am monogomous.

I was very active with SCCA throughout the 1990's.
I have been on the net since the mid 1990's following a few e-mail lists. The web site was started in late 1997 to post the Alaska pictures. Shortly thereafter it became a convenient place to post tech articles so I wouldn't have to repeat the same answers. I just like to help people help themselves to maintain their own MGs, so this has evolved into a sort of worldwide "local" club for do it yourselfers, much like this BBS.

The web site belongs to the car, which is the real hero, while I just hang around in the background as the companion and caretaker. In real life I am (or was) a career machine design engineer. Best description of my current status is, I have been on vacation for about 10 years, but when the money runs out I have to go back to work. Meanwhile I have time for fun fiddling with the car, my web site, the local club web site, managing the MG Site Ring, club activities, and a few BBS and e-mail lists. All jolly good fun.

Sounds like we all need to chip in to keep Barney on vacation and keep his posts coming. Barney don't keep your hopes up too much as to becoming a millionaire!!!
