MG MGA - Beaulieu Autojumble 2 - 3 September 2017
It's that time of the year again. Anyone going to Beaulieu this weekend? Debating whether to go just for the atmosphere etc. Not needing anything much at the moment. The only thing that concerns me is the traffic in that neck of the woods this weekend as it's also the Bournemouth Airshow a little bit further along the coast. The New Forest roads are packed most of the time even without these 2 events. Steve |

Steve, Have ticket; will travel. Probably Saturday. I don't need much, either, but enjoy the walk. Shane |

I'll be there from Friday afternoon until Sunday |

A bit far to go this year, but Beaulieu would have to be one of my favourite things to do in the UK. I've been 4 times since 1999 and would highly recommend to overseas visitors. You don't have to buy anything, just wander around for 3 days trying to cover the huge event.I think only once I have covered the whole area, and it keeps getting bigger each year. |

It's on my bucket list - but not this year |

Steve Have sent you a mail with details of something to hunt out for if you go.... Dominic |

Dominic, Happy to look, too, if it helps. Shane |

Dominic I wont be going unfortunately. Wife not well. Steve |

BIG thanks to Shane for coming up with the exact much-wanted part, which was a particular Lucas relay that I couldn't find anywhere, new or used. I always find things like Beaulieu are more enjoyed if there is something specific I am hunting for - in this case rocking horse manure! |
Dominic Clancy |
Oddly enough I have never been to the autojumble, though I have visited the museum in the past. Maybe it is because I seem to have collected enough rocking horse manure over the years (like 3 MGA 1600 engines..) and really don't need any more 8-) |

Dominic, Don't get too excited: we don't know if it works yet! I live near enough to go regularly. Breakfast is less good than it once was. The atmosphere is good, with customers often as helpful as the stall-holders. I sold an Austin 16 there, at the Automart, in 1980, and have been most years when in the country. Occasional surprises and some bargains as well as a few disappointments. And yes, my garage is stacked with as yet unused parts. Shane |

Dominic, I guess the relay is SB40 33135B??..for the pass to flash switch. I have the original set (relay and switch) which I may sell one day. |
Gary Lock |
Gary, you are (as usual) correct.
I had fixed one up for a friend, using a modern relay in the old housing, as his relay had burned out because of other issues that required a re-wire. But then I was offered a correct switch at a very fair price and thought "why not?" Finding the relay was much harder than I though until Shane came through -just have to hope the relay works, but as most Lucas original stuff is bullet proof unless abused I am hopeful. It's a pity you can't say the same for the reproduction Lucas stuff! If anyone wants an almost identical looking momentary switch I have one going spare for what it cost me (25USD), the modern relay can be hidden under the dash and is a $3 part.... the wiring harness can either be home made or is available from Autosparks as a finished braided loom. I am happy to report that the relay works perfectly! Thanks again to Shane |

That's good to hear Dominic. It makes the stall-crawl worthwhile. Shane |
