MG MGA - Body Numbers on Twin Cams and odd engine #
Does anyone no if the body # I 9989 matches anything for a 1958 Twin Cam? The engine # is 48G214RS39072 I think its from a Mark II swap in England, does that make sence? This site is great, thanks, Don |

Don, What makes you think that the body of your car may be from a mga twin cam? No Twin Cams had a letter "I" in their body number. Twin Cam body numbers are either a 5 digit number or the letter "B" followed by a four digit number. The five digit numbers are in the 61 thousand to 76 thousand range, and the "B" series are in the 16 hundred to 19 hundred range. A list of body differences is given on Barney Gaylord's website: http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/twincam/tc201.htm The most significant are the radiator support panels being further forward, the hole for the heater being further to the right, and the cut away panels in the wheel arches (the last item was not on very early Twin Cams).
