MG MGA - Body Work Needed

10 Years ago when I pulled the engine for its rebuild the hood fell and the latch hit the top of my front fender. I've been driving around like that ever since. (cringe)

I've determined to finally get it fixed this year. While I hate to have it bondo'd I seriously doubt I could find some one to do a lead fill repair.

In any event are there any special instructions I should give a body place regarding this repair?

Is there anything in particular I should look for in a body place? I have a local place that I've used for 20 years, but there's nothing special about vintage cars they do.

This is no show car, just my weekend fun car.

Thanks as always

Perhaps have the fender removed or loosened for the repair to avoid painting of the piping. Is it the original cellulose paint or more recent such as 2 pack? ie. Some paints may react with your existing.

Hi Tysen Welcome back, it's been a long time since you posted.

Can you show us a photo of the damage?

Thanks for the welcome back Dominic. Now that our sons are grown up there is more time to fuss with car. Its hard to believe I did the engine rebuild 10 years ago now.

Here's damage:

That looks like they could beat it out in place and fix with hardly any bondo at all

Tyson, there are guys out there who fix dents and dings like yours all day long. I work at a dealersip and have a fellow who comes every week and repairs worse than yours.

Had a huge "door ding" on my car and he fixed it for $20. Can't tell where the damage was done.

Cheers

Yeah
The paintless dent removal guys would fix that quick smart
Most of them advertise as 'paintless' dent removal but most have spray gear on board
Normally they would just pop the dent out but your's has gone through the paint so will need finishing off with some filler, sanding and paint
Don't know if it's the same over there but here they do the rounds of the used car yards in their vans and are really well set up
The local guy here is MrMagic as far as matching paint colours, I guess doing it all day every day as your income you'd get good at it
Maybe a visit to a local car dealership and ask who's the best at it in your area

Thanks for the feedback. I had a dentless guy work on it. He took some of it out but this is left. He said the steel in that spot is thick.

I'll just run it up to my local folks.

Steve I'm fairly certain its not cellulose paint, the car was originally yellow and it was repainted somewhere around 2001.
