MG MGA - bracket coil

Im rebuilding my engine of my mga 1600 from 1960 ,the ignition coil is on a bracket ,does anybody now of the bracket is in engine color?? and how is the bracket mounted to the engine.

Hi. your car is a 1600, so the coil bracket should be installed on the motor mount closest to the distributor. I believe the coil bracket should be painted black. Cheers, Glenn

The 1600 has a rather odd shaped bracket for the coil that appears like a trapzoid bent out of about 1/8" plate. All the ones that I have seen are painted black to mount the chassis. The plate mounts to the upper portion of the motor mounts. Doesn't look like much in my opinion. The original mounting configuration(1500's) to the generator looks like it belonged!

Better still have 2 coil brackets (with 2 coils) - one 1500 type and the other 1600. With spade connections you can can then swap to the other coil in seconds in you need to - saves a hell of a lot of messing about when you're stuck at the side of the road.
