MG MGA - Brake bleeding
Has anyone tried reverse bleeding the brake system? I've read about this being done on the clutch's hydraulic system. A friend of mine who is a Porsche mechanic told me to do this with the brakes as well. He said that I could use a Mity Vac to do so. I'm guessing that the Mity Vac can be used as a pump to force fluid back through the system. Thanks in advance, Dave |

If you get brake fluid in your Mity Vac, it will get real sticky, and hard to use. Been there, done that! |

I built one of these recently : http://www.bmw-m.net/TechProc/bleeder.htm and it worked like a charm. Even bleeding the clutch was easy. Total cost ~$23.00 including a new MGA master cylinder cap from http://www.lbcarco.com I think this is *the* way to go. It took me a mere 15 minutes to bleed a freshly rebuilt master cylinder. Of course, the master cylinder still leaked like an SOB, but that's my fault for being cheap and not getting it sleeved! |
