MG MGA - Brake Problem wrap-up
Thanks to all that helped me through my recent brake problem. Glenn, Jeff, Chuck, Dan, and RJ, you all were a big help. I was able to replace my front brake shoes, replace one frozen cylinder, bleed the hydraulic system, and get back on the road with all working well. I've never as much as removed a drum until this happened. Had to bleed the system a few times and adjust the brakes a couple of times, but all is operating better than ever before. Still not sure what caused the right front to get so hot, but after a few test drives and some pretty hard braking, all looks good. Thanks again! Cheers, Jerry |

Which cylinder was frozen? |

Tom, Front passenger side, right (front), cylinder. |

Sounds like the problem, doesn't it? That (nearly) frozen cylinder would give in to the pressure from your foot, but not release. |

Tom, With my wife pressing on the brake pedal, and me watching the two cylinders with the brake drum off, the front cylinder would not budge. Couldn't get it to open at all. It was frozen in the closed position. |
