MG MGA - brake servo bleeding
I recently took my master brake cylinder apart and on reassembly had to bleed the whole system. The brakes were adequate but not as good as before I started. After two more attempts they were no better so I reasoned that the only item not bled was the servo. I didn't think that you had to bleed the servo but on going back to the Lockheed fitting instructions I found this in the text: '....the bleeding process will be assisted by 'cracking open' the brake pipe tube nut at the servo outlet whilst depressing the brakes....' I tried this and there was an immediate improvement and the brakes are now back to their original standard. Those with servos may already know this but in case not its worth bearing in mind if your brakes are soggy after a disasemble. |
