MG MGA - Cast valve cover
One for the experts: I have a cast aluminum valve cover for my car, which is different from any of the aftermarket covers currently on the market. It was given to my dad in the mid 60's by his brother in law. I asked him about it once, and he had no idea where my uncle had gotten it from. I was just wondering if anybody here would recognize it and perhaps identify its manufacturer. Here are a couple of pictures: http://rawlinsbrothers.org/mga/images/cover1.jpg http://rawlinsbrothers.org/mga/images/cover2.jpg Yes, I have a lot of polishing work ahead of me. I've seen exactly one other like it, on Barney's site here: http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/variants/vt108b.htm Any information will be appreciated. |

Del, I don't think you should use that Valve Cover as it is not an Original MGA Part. It may compromise your ethics. |

Del, I'm getting older and don't remember as well as I used to, but I think this was mentioned on a thread about Judson superchargers about a year ago. Part of the Judson 'kit' included a rocker cover IIRC. Perhaps Dominic can shed some light, as he's one of the supercharger experts on the board. |

Del: I have one exactly like it except that the oil filler plug is smooth instead of grooved. It was given to me by a friend years ago who, in turn, acquired it with a car. I asked this same question a couple of years ago and did not receive a response, so I'm interested if someone responds this time. I also have a Judson SC. This is not a Judson unit. The Judson valve cover is extended about 6 inches beyond the rear of the engine to accommodate an integral compartment to hold the Marvel Mystery Oil and the delivery oiler assembly. Steve |

That valve cover sure does look super cool . I would surely use it , would make the engine compartment look different and surely would add atleast 10 horses to the engine performance minimum . |

There's no question that I will use it; the cover has been a part of the car for longer than I can remember. I'd just like to know more about its origin. |

it's not a judson mga one - that has an oiler built into it. |
