MG MGA - chassis number ?

In my search for a second MGA I inspected a "car for sale". The chassis number is a mistery: 16GAUH4322(01)
As far as I know chassis numbers begin with GHN... for a roadster. The car comes from the US.
Anyone who can solve this riddle ?

16GAUH4322 is an engine number, not a chassis number.

When I bought my first MGA back in 1966, the Oregon title listed the engine number rather than the chassis number.
