MG MGA - Choke Connection
Is anyone else running MGB carbs with original MGA air filters? If so, how do you mount/connect the bracket for the choke cable to mount to? |

David If you are using HS-4's you need Moss pt# 372-340 Bracket, front air cleaner. It fits on the inside below the carb. body and it is threaded so the air filter bolt thread into it. For the rear carb use pt.# 372-330 which doesn't have the arm extention for the choke cable. Clear as mud. Right. Check your mail for a photo. Kris |

Kris, Thanks for the reply and photos, but these are the bolts for the MGB cans, the MGA Volks filter bodies have threaded bosses, using bolts from the rear of the carbs to mount the rear of the housing and the front of the threaded boss is to mount the front cover. |

David Yes you are right. Sorry I forgot, I happened to have a set of Volkes cans that I bought off Ebay that are not threaded. You could cut the threaded piece off and use a spacer to pass the bolt through preventing it from collapsing. I didn't put the spacer and didn't find it to be a problem. As you can tell from the photos my carbs are not on my car at the moment. I couldn't get them running quite right. I put my HS's back on till I get a chance to sort thing out on the HS-4's. Kris |

Using a non-standard mix of parts, you will likely not find a standard bracket. So make your own bracket and mount it under the bolt heads. |
