MG MGA - Clutch slave boot
I just put a new rubber boot on the clutch lever as part of my resto. I have not yet connected the slave cyl. The boot exerts pressure on the lever which results in the thrust bearing being in continuous contact with the pressure plate. There is no return spring in the system to prevent this. There is of course no difference between mine and every other MGA, but can this be a problem resulting in premature wear? |

No problem. Force applied by the rubber boot is minimal, and it will diminish in short time as the elastomer will "relax" into the rest position with less force. |
