MG MGA - cockpit moulding question
Hi Folks. I am recovering my interior trim panels and the cockpit trim moulding pieces. Regarding the cockpit trim moulding: There is piping that attaches to each piece of trim moulding. Mine is completely missing. Can anyone tell me what diameteer of cord is used to fabricate the piping? Also what type of cord is used? I suspect some type of rot resistant synthetic material is best? Thanks! Glenn |

hi Glenn i also doing my interior, for the piping i use a plastic tube from about 3 mm for the small piping (on the cockpit rails )and 8 mm for the bigger piping (between the fenders) hope this helps serge http://users.pandora.be/mga_world/ |

Glenn, I'm not at home now, but I have some extra cord left over from my upholstery project. I'll try to remember to snip off a sample and send you this weekend. BTW, on the dash, there are two different sizes - IIRC, the lower piping is a bit larger. Joe |

My dash piping is .230" diameter (top and bottom same diameter?) and the piping for the doors and rear rail is .185" diameter. Hope this helps and have a good day! John |

Glenn, I got the plastic rope used for the piping from an upholstery shop and the larger one for under the dash trim moulding I used 1/4" irrigation tubing (spaghetti tubing). The piping above the dash moulding (at the horizontal surface where the rear view mirror is mounted is smaller than the piping under the dash moulding (where the piping would be touching the dash board). Good luck, Randy Myers 59 roadster, coupe |
