MG MGA - copper head gaskets
Now you have got me worried ! about the comments about the modern copper head gaskets giving trouble. I have bought one that has a raised black sealing ring around the bores and is made up of three layers plus the copper. Looks like one asbestos [ ?? ]one black material and another asbestos [? ] Origonally all head gaskets were copper and gave no throuble, what's changed ? Thanks Sean [std. 1500 A ] |

Mostly age on the engine, possible warpage of the head, non-true block and scratches or gouges on the sealing surfaces. It could also be that the head studs are pulling the threads on the block, and the stud holes aren't chamfered. |
