MG MGA - coupe interior

I am in the process of restoring a 59 coupe. The interior was pretty much gone when I bought it. I have been looking for some pics of the rear area where the tire protrudes. I have seen some pics online but I need some clearer or closer shots. Does anyone have access to anything? I am having the interior done at a local shop due to the inability to find the color I want. I was able to use the front panels and seats but have nothing for the rear. I would appreciate any help you might have.
Thanks

My 1600 coupe (built Oct-Nov 1959) has the tyre contained totally within the boot (trunk). There is a flat, mild steel partition placed vertically just behind the battery cover. This confirmed by the pictures in the service parts list for the 1600 - the coupe and roadster are different (roadster has a similar partition but with a cut-out for the spare wheel). This made it possible for me to transport three young ladies in my coupe when at college.
I'll scan the parts book for you tomorrow.

I can't find a good picture of what the interior behind the seats looks like, there are several in Clausager I think. Here's a picture from the boot side of how the spare tire cover fits to the rear bulkhead. Good tire covers are available from SF.

Here's the picture from Clausager's. He goes on to state, "On the 1500 and early Twin Cam coupes, the spare wheel protruded into the tonneau area, and was covered in a gray carpet bag."

I can tell you my couple has a gray carpet bag; however, that is also the color of my interior. So, I think we need input from other coupe owners with non-gray interior.

Here's a scan of the parts book for the MGA 1600 coupe.
This applies to car numbers from 68851 to 100351, introduced in May 1959 (along with front disc brakes).

Before then, the coupe had the earlier style spare wheel storage (and drum brakes on the front wheels). I don't have the parts book for those earlier cars.

What looks like a square cut-out in the middle of it is actually a reinforcing plate to allow the mounting of the spare wheel bracket (item 33)

Thanks for the input regarding the interior of the 59 coupe. I guess I should get a copy of Clasager's book.

Fellows I have a second question regarding the 1500 coupe interior question I posted yesterday. I was wandering if anyone had a pattern for two small side panels that are over the fenderwells in the rear of the coupe. As I posted yesterday all the interior was gone and I cannot tell exactly where the side panels start and stop. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Just curious, what color interior are you installing that you could not find in the available kits?

I have painted the body gold and intending to put an off white interior with gold piping. I have the upholsterer working on the interior but I cannot determined the exact size of those small side panels.

I have been posting questions about the interior for my 59 1500 coupe. Are the rear panels over the fender wells the same for both the roadster and the coupe.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Bud,
attached two pictures. The panels are not like they should be, the front should be in line with the doorpanel and the rear should be in line with the rear cross bracket. Hope this helps.

Thanks Siggi for the pic. I believe this answers the questions I had about the panels. Barney Gaylord sent me a site address that shows the panels for the roadster but I was not sure if the roadster and the coupe had the same panels.
Thanks again

Hi Bud,

I'm working on a '57 coupe. I have most of the interior still intact. That is with 50 year worth of smell....
If you still need, I can take measures or pictures.

Let me know.
