MG MGA - crankshaft removal
Is it necessary to remove the engine backplate to remove the crank? It would appear so because of the rear oil slinger which seems to require a direct drop out of its slot and the crank flange then hits the backplate opening. Currently it is on a stand, held by the backplate so I may have to put it on the bench. Art |

Yes. Front and back plates both have to be removed before the crankshaft will come out. |
