MG MGA - Dual Circuit Brake Master Cylinder

Has anyone managed to find a Dual Circuit master cylinder that fits without cutting a hole in the bulkhead?

Other than this solution.

I know the standard thing is combined, Brake/clutch, but I have Dunlop brakes.

For the Twincam brake box, try the 1969-74 MGB dual circuit non-servo master. I know it has an odd shaped reservoir, but I believe the bolt pattern is the same as the Dunlop master and it might be the easiest to swap in.

I use something almost the same as Jim's picture on my race car.

Mark, another possibility. Some US made minivans used a 90 degree bracket and bell crank for the brake master cylinders to obtain clearance, perhaps this would work for your application. Certainly a bracket could be made that would bolt in at the existing points. This might place the master cylinder a bit under the wing, but a remote resevoir should fix any access issues.

Bill & Bill,

I have an MGB dual M/C but it's too long.
I think if I got another cage and altered that I may be in business.

Not sure about the 90 degree idea that sounds dangerous for racing purposes. Bill would you have a photo however ?

Mark, take a look at the Spitfire 1500

Might be smaller, can't really recall.

Mark, I don't have a photo available, but having seen this setup installed on production cars I would think that strength wouldn't be a problem if well designed brackets and components were used.

Bill,

That's the sort of thing I'm after.
Do you have a 1500 Sprite and able to measure it's length from where it bolts on to where it ends ?

The MGB one I have looks like this, but is too long.

I'm would have thought after all these years someone would have produced a kit to utilise Later master cylinders.

What were really talking is a modified cage to accommodate a longer master cylinder.
I wonder if someone like http://www.sportscarmetalworks.com/ might be interested in producing them.

Since the pushrods for the brake and clutch are quite long. Shorter one's could be used and both master cylinders moved forwards to accommodate the later dual brake one's...
I think only an inch would be needed.

Your thoughts ?

Anyone else tried this ?
