MG MGA - Earliest MGA's

I was wondering which of our contributors can claim to own the oldest MGA Roadster and MGA Coupe in running condition.
Dave Barron

Although I'm sure others will jump in quickly with earlier cars, I'll start the ball rolling with a '56 roadster, #HDA43-14408.

'56 MGA roadster in OEW (as seen on the front of this month's Safety Fast magazine), chassis number HDR 33/18273. Early left hand drive export model (not USA). Built July 24 - August 16 1956 according to BMIHT.
I have owned this since 1989, and it has been on the road all the time except for 3 months when I had it repainted.

It would be nice to see a web page with the first 100 or so there....

Perhaps Barney might take the bait...

So if Chassis numbers ran from 10101 to 109070 for push-rod cars there must be more that have survived than whats shown on the Holland Register.

Mark

It is the first time I have seen this list. Mine is not on it and I suspect the same applies to many on this forum. Do you have the email of the database owner?

HDC43-10106 was recently restored. That was the first production MGA out of the factory, and the first MGA delivered to North America. See here: http://www.maynardsgarage.com

Trevor,

I don't think Koen and others read this BBS that often, so your better off contacting them direct.

Those lists make a good starting point I find on determining when cars were made and if they are still the same as they came out of the factory...
Also MG liked to make things in batches, which is clearly shown in these lists too.

Cheers
Mark.
